Gel vs Poly Fill Breastplates: Which One Is Right for You
Every Elea's Closet breastplate starts the same way: cast in hyper-real, special-effects grade silicone, with hand airbrushed nipples and up to eight hours of hand work in every single plate. The gel vs poly fill decision is about what goes inside that silicone. Poly fill is the standard fill, and it is included in the price of every plate we list. Gel fill is the premium option, at $130 more. Neither choice changes your size, your shade, or your finish. It changes the fill, and here is how to think about it.
What is poly fill? The standard inside our plates
Poly fill is the fill your plate comes with when you order it as listed. No upgrade, no extra charge, nothing held back. It is the inside we build our line on, from the B cup up through the G cup and the XXL. The plates are not heavy, either: as listed, they run from under three pounds for the smallest sizes to under five for the largest, because a plate you wear through a full night of numbers has to respect your back and your neck. A poly fill plate goes on and off with the same industrial snaps as every plate we make, and it comes in the same four shades, Fair, Suntan, Light Skin Mixed, and Dark Chocolate, with our Color Match service when you need an exact match.
What is gel fill? The premium upgrade
Gel fill puts gel silicone inside the plate, and it is our premium fill option at $130 more than the standard fill. We will tell you exactly why it costs more, because we say it in our own exchange policy too: a gel fill plate uses additional gel silicone, and that material costs more. It is the same reason a gel plate costs more to re-pour if you ever exchange sizes through our program. You are paying for more of the good stuff inside the plate, not for a different plate. The silicone skin is the same. The hand airbrushed finish is the same. The snaps and the size chart are the same. The difference is the fill, full stop.
Gel vs poly fill: what actually changes, and what doesn't
What changes: the fill material inside the plate, the price, $130 more for gel, and the re-pour cost if you ever exchange, since gel takes more material to remake. What doesn't change: your size, so measure exactly the same way for both fills. Your look, because Natural, Bombshell, and Statuesque come from the plate's size and protrusion, not from its fill. Your shade, your finish, and the way the plate fastens. If a fill comparison anywhere promises you magic, be suspicious. This one is honest: it is a materials upgrade, priced like one.
How do you choose between gel and poly fill?
Start with size, because no fill can rescue a wrong measurement. Our breastplate fitting guide walks you through the four measurements, and once your size is settled, the fill answer gets simple. First plate, still learning your fit and your look? Poly fill keeps your investment at the listed price while you find both, and it is a complete plate at that price. Know your size cold and want the premium fill inside a plate you plan to wear for years? Gel earns its $130. Either way, browse the full breastplate collection with your measurements in hand, and if you are building the whole silhouette at once, our drag and pageant jewelry is where the rest of the look lives.
We say it on the fitting guide and we will say it here: we would rather help you get it right than watch you order twice. Measure first, pick your look, then choose your fill like you mean it.
